(Feb. 27, 2020) — Singing News has learned that
Sylvia Daniels, 80, grandmother of Daniel Ashmore (bass singer for The Old Paths), passed away this morning, Feb. 27, 2020. Please remember Daniel and all of Sylvia’s loved ones in prayer at this time.

Mrs. Daniels was born in Happy Valley, Tennessee, the daughter of Paul Boring, a Baptist preacher, and Sally Boring. She grew up singing hymns in perfect harmony with her ten siblings. Mrs. Daniels was always involved in church, with many family memories taking place at Decoration Sunday at Chilhowee Primitive Baptist Church (Red Top), in Tallassee, Tennessee.

She was married to Turner Lee Daniels on December 28, 1957, until his death in 2010, and they had five children: Denise, Turner (now in Heaven), Janet, Patricia, and Micheal. Mrs. Daniels was a homemaker, inspector sales associate for K-Mart and Dillard’s, and a substitute teacher for DeSoto County Schools (MS).

After her retirement, Mrs. Daniels spent her time visiting and ministering to friends. After her grandson, Daniel, joined The Old Paths, she would give everyone Old Paths CDs to enjoy, often going to Goodwill to buy a CD player if one was not owned. She loved Gospel music and wanted everyone around her to come to know Jesus as their Savior.
