**Updated to include funeral arrangements at end of post**

Salem, VA (Oct. 1, 2019) — Gospel music lost one of its most ardent supporters and artists today. Marvin Parsons, 80, of Salem, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. His loss will be felt by many in Gospel music and in the Christian community.

Marvin was born on December 9, 1938, in Roanoke, Va. to the late Arthur C. and Irene Webb Parsons. His love and passion for music were well known throughout the region and beyond. As founder and faithful owner of the Dominion Trio for over 50 years, he and the group helped spread the gospel to many through their singing ministry.

For a couple of years, he also assisted the Sego Brothers and Naomi as their bass singer. When he wasn’t traveling, you may have heard Marvin on WKBA Christian radio, as he DJ’d for them for over 14 years. Marvin was certainly a man of many talents and truly enjoyed being self-employed. He was the original owner and operator of B&C Exterminators in Vinton and also of Marvin’s Handi-Houses. Above all, Marvin will be remembered as a man who loved his Lord, his family, and his neighbor. He never met a stranger and will be missed!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Stanley, June Lindholm, and Norma Cleary. Family remaining to cherish his memory includes his wife of 41 years, Nora Parsons; sons, Bradly Parsons of Salem and Marvin Parsons of Florida; daughter, Misty Berner of Florida; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Andrew and Pat Draughn; loving niece, Diane McCroskey; buddies and friends, Gary Gillespie, Don Tinsley, Jack and Betty Saul, and many more who came by to offer their love and support!

Much love and thanks to our neighbors, Ms. Ruth Stump and Bobby Kenrick; our Pastor Steve Parker and family at Living Well Church of the Nazarene; longtime friend and business partner, Tim Meeker; and Heartland Hospice of Roanoke, for all of the love and support given to Marvin and his family throughout the years and during his time of illness.

A gospel concert and celebration of Marvin’s life will be conducted on Friday, Friday, October 4, 2019, at 7 p.m. at Living Well Church of the Nazarene in Salem, Va. with Pastor Steve Parker officiating. Jonathan Buckner & Chosen Roads, along with Dominion Trio will perform.
The family will receive friends on Friday at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private.
