Kinston, NC (July 2, 2019) — Ed O’Neal and the Dixie Melody Boys have announced that former member Derrick Boyd has rejoined as the group’s full-time tenor.

Derrick was a member of the group from 1987 to 1993, along with Ed O’Neal, McCray Dove, Larry Delawder, and Nathan Widner. In addition to the Dixie Melody boys, Derrick has performed with Heaven Bound, The Kingsmen, Safe Harbor, The Toney Brothers, The Anchormen, and The Carolina Boys.

In a recent Facebook update, the Dixie Melody Boys thanked everyone for praying for Ed O’Neal as he continues to show daily improvement following a car accident in April. They also mentioned that they’re searching for a new lead singer and that another DMB alum, Jamie Caldwell, is filling in for the group in the meantime. The Dixie Melody Boys instruct any vocalists interested in the lead position to send a vocal demo and photo to [email protected], and it will be forwarded to Mr. O’Neal.
