Voting Begins For The Top 5 Nominees In The 2021 Singing News Fan Awards!

The nominating ballot for the 2021 Singing News Fan Awards appeared in the March, 2021 issue. All Southern Gospel music fans are eligible to nominate their favorite individuals, musicians, groups, songs, and albums. You don’t have to be a subscriber to vote, but you must provide an email address when voting.

The Singing News Fan Awards – the most prestigious in the Southern Gospel Music field – involve a three-phase balloting process.  The nominating ballot appears in the March issue of Singing News.  The semi-final ballot (Top 10) will appear in the May issue, and the final ballot (Top 5) will appear in the July issue of Singing News.

Winners in 19 categories will be announced during the 2021 Singing News Fan Awards, which will be held on October 1, 2021, at The LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, during the National Quartet Convention (NQC).

New for 2021

  • Voting is open to ALL fans of Gospel music!  You don’t have to be a subscriber, but you must provide us with a valid email address in order to cast your votes.
  • We have added a new category for 2021 – Favorite Duet.
  • Our Radio category is undergoing changes for 2021. Those changes will be announced during the Singing News Fan Awards show on October 1, 2021.

Rules of Eligibility:

Eligibility period for all categories is March 1, 2020 through February 28, 2021.

 

Favorite Artist
A group or individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in ministry and artistry of Southern Gospel music during the past year.

Favorite Quartet
An all-male quartet featuring four-part harmony.

Favorite Mixed Group
A mixed group with a minimum of four vocalists, including both male and female vocalists and featuring four-part harmony.

Favorite Duet
A duo consisting of two vocalists, who present their music in the style of Southern Gospel music.

Favorite Trio
A vocal group consisting of three vocalists – all male, all female, or both male and female.

Favorite Soloist
All solo artists who present their music in a Southern Gospel music style.

Favorite Young Artist
Must be 25 years old or younger.  Qualification: Sings with a Southern Gospel music group or is a Southern Gospel music solo artist. Previous winners are not eligible.

Favorite Tenor
Must sing the tenor part with a Southern Gospel music vocal ensemble.

Favorite Lead
Must sing the lead part with a Southern Gospel music duo/trio/quartet, or other vocal ensemble.

Favorite Baritone
Must sing the baritone part with a Southern Gospel music vocal ensemble.

Favorite Bass
Must sing the bass part with a Southern Gospel music quartet/group or other vocal ensemble.

Favorite Soprano
Must sing the soprano part with a Southern Gospel music vocal ensemble.

Favorite Alto
Must sing the alto part with a Southern Gospel music vocal ensemble.

Favorite Musician
Must play a musical instrument professionally in Southern Gospel music.

Favorite Band
Must be a Southern Gospel music band with at least 2 or more musicians that regularly performs with a Southern Gospel music duo/trio/quartet/group or other vocal ensemble.

Favorite Songwriter
Must be a nationally recognized Southern Gospel music songwriter whose songs are commonly recorded by Southern Gospel artists and whose songs have appeared in national Southern Gospel music charts between the eligibility period of March 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021.

Favorite Album
Recording must be made by a Southern Gospel music artist or group, recorded on a Southern Gospel Music label (major or independent), and must have been released nationally between the eligibility period of March 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021.

Favorite Song
Song must have been recorded by a Southern Gospel music artist or group, recorded on a Southern Gospel music label (major or independent), and have been released nationally as a radio single during the eligibility period of March 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021. This award will be presented to both the ARTIST and the SONGWRITER(S).

Favorite New Artist
Upcoming soloist, duet, trio, mixed group, quartet or other vocal ensemble who has demonstrated major growth in the areas of national radio airplay, charting, and personal appearances.

(Previous winners of Favorite New Soloist, Favorite New Trio, Favorite New Mixed Group, or Favorite New Traditional Quartet are not eligible. Previous winners of Favorite New Artist are not eligible.  Further, any artist nominated in these categories in 2018, or prior, is not eligible.)
