Year No. 51 complete; year No. 52 begins. Issue No. 613 is at the printer.

In May 1969, J.G. Whitfield started Singing News on a journey that continues today. Along the way, the story of Southern Gospel music has been told in millions of words and photos as writers brought artists and fans together every month.

We’d like to think Mr. Whitfield would smile knowing that the work he began more than half a century ago continues on. Today, Singing News exists in both the print and digital worlds. More people know about Southern Gospel music and Singing News than ever before, and for that we’re very thankful.

In the coming months, you’ll be seeing a few new writers in the pages of Singing News. First among those writers will be someone who has been around Southern Gospel music all of his life and, as he says, “he’s living out his dream.” When the June issue arrives in your mailbox, look for the new column, “Grateful Eyes,” by Scotty Inman (of Triumphant Quartet).

Two issues later, you’ll be introduced to new piece written by another very familiar member of the Southern Gospel family. We’ll tell you that name soon—and when that time comes, we will have even one more announcement for you.

All of us here at Singing News want to offer sincere appreciation for your support during the magazine’s first 51 years. As we start our 52nd year, we are very mindful that we could not do this without you or our Lord and Savior.

We are forever grateful.
