Singing News has learned that long-time Southern Gospel Music broadcaster Paul Heil passed away during the evening of Sunday, Dec. 27th, following a heart attack.

Mr. Heil, the founder of The Gospel Greats syndicated radio program, has been a fixture in Southern Gospel Music since 1980. During the program’s 40 years, Mr. Heil was awarded every radio broadcasting award possible in the Southern Gospel Music genre. In 2014, Mr. Heil was inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Additional information will be posted as it becomes available. In the meantime, please keep Mr. Heil’s wife of 38 years, Shelia, and the entire Heil family in your prayers as they respectfully ask for privacy at this time.
