Mother-in-law of Martin Cook Passes Away Staff November 7, 2017 Sylva, NC — The mother-in-law of Inspirations Quartet founder Martin Cook and the grandmother of the group’s former upright bass guitarist Myron Cook, has passed on to Heaven. Nancy Mull Shuler, age 93, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Skyland Care Center in Sylva, North Carolina. Mrs. Shuler was born May 26, 1924, to the late Charlie and Zona Knight Mull. She was an old-fashioned woman who will be remembered for being helpful in her community. Nancy enjoyed gardening, canning and taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Carmel Shuler; her second husband, Frank Shuler; and five siblings. Mrs. Shuler is survived by a son, Clifford Shuler (Sandra); a daughter, Ora Blanche Cook (Martin); four brothers; two sister-in-laws; three sisters; one brother-in-law; grandchildren Myron (Jennifer), Marcia, Michael Cook, and Aundria Pressley (Larry); and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Josiah, Abigail Cook and Phillip Pressley (Shellie) and Melissa Pressley. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m.. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations in Waynesville, North Carolina with the Reverend Michael Queen officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylva, North Carolina with the Reverend Steve Webb officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
