Monroeville, PA (Feb. 19, 2020) — Joe Chioda of The Streets of Gold Ministry and Gospel Music Promotions has informed us that his 94-year-old mother Josephine, known to most as “Mom Chioda,” went on to glory Wed., Oct. 30, 2019.

Josephine was the beloved wife of Joseph Chioda Sr. for 56 years until his passing in 1998. She loved music and played guitar, accordion, trumpet, organ, and piano, and she wrote many Gospel songs. And, she was a regular columnist for Streets of Gold magazine, sharing recipes, cooking tips, and words of encouragement with readers. She also attended more than 500 concerts, conventions, and events that Joe Chioda organized in the Pittsburgh area. Many groups that performed at the events got to know “Mom Chioda,” who always made it a point to speak to each one of them.

Joe shares that his mother spent 226 days in the hospital and nursing home, and he visited her every day. He writes, “See you in heaven, Mom … you’re with Dad now, and your family will all see you soon when we will be reunited in Heaven.”

Josephine is survived by her children, Marianne, Joe, Steven, Paul, and David, and their spouses, as well as her sister Elizabeth, eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Following services at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home, she was laid to rest in Restland Cemetery in early November. Please remember Mrs. Chioda’s family in prayer.
