Gadsden, AL (September 10, 2018) — Danny Riley is pleased to announce the hiring of GW Southard as Gold City’s new pianist, effective immediately. Gospel music fans will remember GW most recently played piano for Triumphant Quartet from 2014-2016. After a two-year break from the road, he is excited to be touring once again with a group near and dear to his heart.

“I first heard Gold City around age 8 or 9, when they came to my hometown. I remember it like it was yesterday. The following afternoon, when our normal routine was to take a nap in between morning and evening church services, all I could hear in my head was that music from the night before—every song, everything they said. That one concert set the course for the rest of my life. When I joined Triumphant, it was huge for me. They’re such a great group of guys and I learned so much from them about how to be a man and how to exist in the gospel music environment. They are the real deal. When I came off the road, I told myself I was not going to tour again, and I think I was trying to convince myself of that, but now that I find myself with Gold City, it’s obvious that every situation that has happened these last couple of years has been God putting me on the path to be here, even preparing me when I was that 8 or 9 year-old young boy,” GW says.

Danny says, “I’m excited to have GW on Gold City’s team! I’ve known him a long time, and not only are we getting a terrific player, but an all-around great guy. He comes with a glowing recommendation from Triumphant Quartet, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Gold City family.”
