Evangelist Harold S. Leake Passes Away

Conestee, SC (April 9, 2018) — Evangelist Harold Stanley Leake, 86, passed away on April 1, 2018 at his home. Leake penned the Kingsmen classic “Excuses” which appeared on their 1981 album Live … Naturally. Leake was a pastor and evangelist for 69 years and attended First Baptist Church of Conestee. Harold is survived by his wife, Brenda Kaye Burney Leake of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Harrill (Shannon) and Carolyn Hill (Greg); one son, Rodney Leake (Feleca) and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Conestee. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Leake requests prayers for her and her family.
