Manchester, IL (May 6, 2019) —Singing News has learned that Mike Rueter, 60, of the Gospel group The Chosen Ones, passed away Sunday, May 5. The group released the following statement yesterday evening:

Mike and Melanie Rueter, 2019

Dear Friends,

It is with shocked and heavy hearts that we write this message….

While at home this afternoon, Mike Rueter collapsed from a heart attack and passed away.

We had a very rare Sunday at home and we are praising God that this did not happen while Mike was behind the wheel of the bus.

We will pass along arrangements as soon as they are made. We covet your prayers. Mike is now rejoicing at the feet of the Savior that he so passionately sang about his entire life.

“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:21

Mike and his wife Melanie formed The Chosen Ones more 45 years ago, and the group now includes three generations of their family. Prayers are appreciated for Melanie and the group, as well as all of Mike’s family and friends. Below is information for Mike’s homegoing service, and his complete obituary is available here.
