Mt. Pleasant, TX (December 29, 2018) — We are sad to report that Howard Elton Hildreth Jr., 92, went to be with our blessed Savior on December 26, 2018, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

Howard and Lou HildrethHoward was married to Gospel Music industry leader and GMA Hall of Fame member Lou Wills Hildreth for 72 years. Lou told Homecoming Magazine in 2013 that she and Howard met when he came home from World War II and returned to his former job at a theater in Arlington, Texas, where Lou was a cashier. She said, “The minute we laid eyes on each other, it really was love at first sight.”

In addition to Lou, Howard is survived by their two children, David Hildreth, MD (Terri) and Kathryn Mumaw (Michael); and three grandchildren, Phillip White, Patrick Hildreth, Sean Hildreth, and Megan Hildreth.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2019, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas, followed by a committal service from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Howard’s name to the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 6729, Sevierville, TN, 37864.
