The 2022 Singing News Songwriters’ Search invites all non-professional* songwriters to submit your original songs!

*Non-professional songwriter is defined as one who has never had an original song on the Singing News Top 40 chart; and one who is not currently under an exclusive publishing contract.

FIVE winners will be chosen!

All five winners will be invited to appear on a TV special, hosted by Dave Clark, at a legendary venue in Nashville, TN.

1 (ONE) Grand Prize winner will receive:

• A one-song publishing deal with Crossroads Music Publishing.

• Winning song will be recorded by a recording artist on the Sonlite or Horizon record labels.

• A 2-night stay (1 room/4 people) in Pigeon Forge, TN on Thursday and Friday nights (September 29-30, 2022) of the National Quartet Convention.

• Special recognition during the 2022 Singing News Fan Awards ceremony (held on September 30, 2022.)

• Dave Clark’s Songwriting Course (a $400 value)

• Winning song and songwriter will be included in a feature story in Singing News Magazine about the contest winners.

• Story, photo, and song will be posted on www.SingingNews.com.

• A one-year paid subscription (or a one-year extension) to Singing News.

• Lodging and tuition for the Charles Novell School os Music scholarship, held July 10-16, 2022.

1 (ONE) 2nd Place winner will receive:

• A one-song publishing deal of the 2nd place-winning song with Crossroads Music Publishing.

• 2nd place-winning song and songwriter will be included in a feature story in Singing News Magazine about the contest winners.

• Story, photo, and song will be posted on www.SingingNews.com.

3 (THREE) Runners-Up winners will receive:

• Runners-up winning songs and songwriters will be included in a feature story in Singing News Magazine about the contest winners.

2022 Singing News Songwriters Search

The Singing News Songwriter Contest (“Contest”) is open to any individual who is thirteen (13) years of age or older (entrants under 18 years of age will need written permission from their parent or legal guardian), who registers by completing an official entry form available from www.singingnews.com, www.singingnewstv, or www.singingnewsradio.com and submits the applicable entry fee(s) to Singing News (“Promoter”).

The early entry deadline is April 1, 2022, at 12:00 midnight (CST) and the final deadline is May 31, 2022, at 6 p.m. (CST).

Fees:

The “early” entry fees are as follows (February 1, 2022 – April 1, 2022):

The “regular” entry fees are as follows (April 2, 2022 – May 31, 2022):

Eligibility:

Employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, and immediate family and household members of Sea Walker Media Corporation (dba Singing News, SingingNewsTV and Singing News Radio, Crossroads Music and Crossroads Music Publishing) are not eligible to participate in the contest.

The winners will be selected from among all eligible entries received by a panel of judges selected by contest promoter.  Entries received and/or postmarked by April 1, 2022 at 12:00 midnight CST will receive a discounted entry fee rate, as detailed under “fees” and on the official contest entry form.  Entries received and/or postmarked by May 31, 2022 at 6 p.m. CST will be accepted.  Entrants need not be present to win.

The winners will officially be announced on www.singingnews.com and www.singingnewsradio.com in June 2022, and will be notified by email or telephone. 

Odds Of Winning:

Odds of winning depend on the total number of entries received.  Promoters are not responsible for lost, late, damaged or mishandled entries.

No Transfer:

No transfer, substitution, or cash equivalent will be given for the Grand Prize or 2nd Place prizes provided.  However, Singing News, SingingNewsTV and Singing News Radio may, at its sole discretion, substitute a prize of equal or greater value.  

By participating in the contest, each entrant agrees to abide by and be bound by all of these official contest rules.  All decisions regarding the contest including, but not limited to, selecting the winners, will be made by the contest judges, whose decisions shall be final.  

The CEO of Sea Walker Media Corporation may prohibit an entrant from participating in this contest, at his/her sole discretion, if, in the opinion of the CEO, the entrant fails to abide by these contest rules, or otherwise acts (I) in a non-professional or inappropriate manner, (II) acts with an intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other entrant or contest judge, or (III) acts in any other disruptive manner.  The winner is solely responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes.  All federal, state, and local taxes apply.

To find out the winners of the contest, look for the winners names and song titles to be posted at www.singingnews.com, www.singingnewstv.com and www.singingnewsradio.com once the winners have been determined upon the conclusion of the contest.
