Since its debut in 1969, Singing News has been under the ownership umbrella of four distinct individuals or business entities. There was the J.G. Whitfield era of 1969 -1986; Maurice Templeton’s ownership was 1986 – 2005; Salem Communications (now Salem Media Group) was at the helm 2006 – 2021; and now, Sea Walker Media Corporation holds the reins. Though each provided leadership, each brought differing business strategies to the table.

However, there was common ground. Each “ownership” has realized the Southern Gospel music audience has proven time and time again to be a very loyal audience—loyal not only to a favorite artist, event, song, and album, but also loyal to the products used in everyday life. For example, if someone liked Coca-Cola or Chevrolet, there was a good chance that person was never going to drink Pepsi or drive a Ford.

That consumer loyalty is paramount in today’s world. Product manufacturers and service providers are looking for exactly that very thing every single day.

This is the point where you may be asking, “What does this have to do with Southern Gospel music and Singing News?”

The answer has roots within the second sentence of the second paragraph. It’s taken a while, but several manufacturers, health care product providers, and investment organizations—many of them led by devout Christian businesspeople— have taken a careful look and gauged the loyalty of the Southern Gospel audience. And now they are willing to put in the effort and resources to reach out to people just like you.

Because of this, doors for growth are not only opening for Singing News, SingingNewsTV, Singing News Radio, but also for Southern Gospel music in general. The commitments of those companies and organizations to reach the Southern Gospel audience help to support the ultimate goal of the Southern Gospel genre: tell the story of Jesus every hour, every day, near and far.

You’ve been introduced to a few of these companies in recent issues of Singing News, and you’ll be meeting more soon. When find yourself in need of the products or services they offer, consider those who are helping to support your favorite music.

Yes, a good thing is happening.
