(March 19, 2019) — We are sad to learn of the recent death of Curtis Rice, the older brother of Karl Rice, who was the lead singer for The Williamsons before coming off the road earlier this month.

Karl posted this statement on March 17: “My older brother was rock climbing yesterday when his anchor rope gave way and he tragically lost his life. You never see days like today coming. I loved him. He was an amazing friend, brother, and father. 38 years young. We had a hiking/camping/fishing trip planned for two weeks from now. I’m a wreck. Please pray for my family, but especially parents and my nieces, who will take it the hardest.”

A resident of Blacksburg, Virginia, Curtis was an adventurous soul who loved hiking, boating, and other outdoor pursuits that allowed him to enjoy nature. In addition to his daughters, Ashton and Abbie, Curtis is survived by his parents, four siblings, and many other loved ones.

Prayers are appreciated for Karl and his family during this difficult time.
